This procedure is often performed along with blepharoplasty since the position of the eyebrows is lower than normal, meaning they are over the orbital rim or below it. With this surgery, the goal is to raise the position of the eyebrow along its entire length, from the head to the tail, achieving a more open, radiant, and bold appearance – all signs of youth and beauty. Small incisions are made within the scalp, and through endoscopes, soft tissues beneath the eyebrows are accessed, releasing the muscles between the brows, as well as the peri-orbital muscle. Internal anchoring sutures are placed to lift the eyebrows. It is also possible to reduce the contraction of the muscles between the brows by weakening them.
In many cases, tired eyes and excess skin on the upper eyelids are accompanied by a drooping of the head or tail of both eyebrows, a condition that increases the perception of aging in the upper third of the face. When this surgery is performed, along with upper blepharoplasty, it results in a bold and youthful look, achieving an expression known as “fox eyes,” especially when the lift extends to the middle third of the face.
